Statement of Faith
We accept the Holy Scriptures as contained in the Old and New Testament as being the verbally inspired Word of God and being perfectly preserved in the King James 1611 Bible. We do not believe it can be corrected or improved upon in any way. It is the final rule of faith and practice.
We believe in the triune God, who is eternally in three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
We believe in the deity of Christ - His virgin birth, His sinless life, His death for the sins of the world, His bodily resurrection, His exaltation at God's right hand, His personal, imminent and premillennial return.
We believe all men are sinners and are guilty before God; in need of a Savior.
We believe that men are born again through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ; tha tthey become the children of God, eternally saved; that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer to guide and help him in his testimony and service.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in Glory, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost in hell. We believe that all believers have a responsibility to get the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ into all the world.
Autonomy Of The Local Church
I am surprised at the number of Independent, Fundamental Baptist pastors and evangelists who seem to be very weak on the teaching of the autonomy of the local church. Over the years, I have read after many fundamental Baptist writers as they have written on the subject of Baptist Distinctives and they have always emphasized the autonomy of the local church as a Baptist Distinctive.
The word "autonomy" means, "the right of self-government" and "that without outside interference." No outside person, persons or any outside authority has a right to demand that a church surrender their scriptural convictions. Any church that operates by common sense will provide for the safety and well being of their people by observing fire codes, safety codes and other safety measures.
But, no one has a right to demand a church do something under the threat of breaking fellowship with them if they don't do it especially if what they demand is wrong. Any person should be glad to accept advice from those that they respect and have confidence in. No one has a right to demand that a person, pastor or church bow to their demands or else.
We "render to Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's and unto God, the things that are God's." but we do not surrender our autonomy and our spiritual convictions to the dictates of man. I am an independent, fundamental Baptist and I still believe in teh autonomy of the local church.
Today, many local churches are controlled in some measure by organizations, denominational headquaters and leaders. We feel that this is not scriptural and the light of Matthew 18; Acts 6, 13, 14 and 15; I Corinthians 5 and Revelation 2:3. (APD) Copied
